Celebrating International Confucius Day at Confucius Institute Islambad

The Confucius Institute, NUML Islamabad, grandly held a Confucius Day celebration. The event aimed to commemorate the teachings of Confucius, promote the excellence of traditional Chinese culture, and enhance friendship and cultural exchange between China and Pakistan.

The celebration began in a lively atmosphere. The host first introduced the significance of Confucius Day, emphasizing the value of Confucius’ thought in promoting mutual learning among civilizations and cultural exchange.

During the event, teachers and students engaged in a variety of cultural activities, gaining deeper insight into Chinese traditions:

  1. History and Uses of Chopsticks
    Local teacher Mr. Abdul Salam delivered a lively lecture on the over 3,000-year history of chopsticks. 
  2. Chinese Paper Cutting
    The event featured a special demonstration of traditional Chinese paper cutting. Paper-cut works symbolize joy, good fortune, and harmony. .
  3. Chinese Calligraphy
    In the calligraphy session, students learned the basic brush techniques and explored the cultural connotations behind Chinese characters. They carefully practiced writing simple characters, experiencing the artistic beauty and philosophical depth of Chinese calligraphy.

       Chinese Martial Arts Performance
HSK Level 3 student Ayan Karim gave a wonderful martial arts performance, showcasing the charm of traditional Chinese martial arts through powerful and energetic movements. 

At the end, teachers and students took group photos. The teachers expressed their gratitude to all participants and distributed gifts to the students, encouraging them to continue learning and exploring Chinese culture.
